How does it work?

Grab your favorite photo or snap a new one of mom and submit a short caption describing why your mom is so special.

During the voting period, view the entries, register and vote for your favorite. The photos with the most votes from the public win.

The contest is free, but only residents of Clallam and Jefferson counties in Washington state are eligible to enter and win.

The Mother's Day Photo Contest is sponsored by the newspapers of the North Olympic Peninsula — Peninsula Daily News, Sequim Gazette and Forks Forum.

Who can participate?

To enter a photo, you must have taken the picture yourself, have the permission of the person or people in the photo (or their legal guardian) and be age 13 or older.

You may also enter a picture of yourself, with the permission of the photographer.

Parents and guardians may enter photos taken by (or of) their children under the age of 13.

Everyone (age 13 or older) is welcome to vote.

Winners will be announced and contacted Tuesday, May 19.


What are the prizes?

Our sponsors have provided several wonderful prizes.

The first-place winner will receive a $100 gift certificate for auto services at Wilder Auto in Port Angeles, plus a Mother's Day Special Basket.

Other prizes are a $25 gift certificate to Fiesta Jalisco; a $25 gift certificate to First Federal; a $25 gift certificate to LD's Woodfire Grill; a $25 gift certificate to Cherry Hill Florist; a $25 gift certificate to Necessities & Temptations; and a $25 slot card to the Elwha River Casino.
